With the breed Suffolk Butia starts in 1980 with eight females and an important ram called Ayre 108, the Big Champion of Expointer 82. In 1984, a historical fact: Butia managed to import American sheep to Brazil . In this importation there was the super champion Heg 3/512, which was the Big Suffolk Champion of expointer 85 and record in weight at Expointer 85 with its 190 kg .
The Suffolk herd of Cabanha Butia has 400 matrixes today. It's a herd with a Pure Origin selected by EDP with ultra-tomography which we have been doing sing 1992. During Expointer 2004, there were new categories of sheep displayed: Cabanha Butia presented milk tooth yearling sheep, breeding sheep and recently delivered. This proved that efficiency of the breeding, a correct management and proved genetics present good results. The Suffolk herd has now proved precocity and Butia is part of this.
