The work with cattle started much before the First Expointer, when Pedro Bertagnolli still fought with wheat crops. In l950, the first female Jersey, named Doll, came to the farm with the aim of providing with mild the wheat workers.
From the 60's onward, Butia started to import Jerseys from different places in the world, from Jersey Island, England, Canada and New Zealand. This investment would help the herd qualification.
As a result of the importations, and the work that has been developed with the Jersey Cattle, Butia won 21 times the Great Female Champion of Expointer, 24 times the Best Breeder and several times the Year Prize as the "Cabanha do Ano" and still broke the record of milk production during the Esteio Fair, Rio Grande do Sul, many times.
