In 1964, there was the first importation from Jersey Island : a male and two females. From that year on, the diversification is a reality, to consolidate the investments, in l969, another importation from the Island , the bull Vedas, one of the great responsible animals for the qualification of the herd. It did not take long and the fruit sprouted with the First Great Championship of Breeding, in the I Expointer, in 1972. The investment did not stop, in l974; Butia bought one more bull and three females from England and in l979, the first importation from Canada , in l986, from the USA and in l992, from New Zealand. In l986, the first Jerseys of embryo transference were born.
In 1987, Ronald Bertagnolli says, in Palermo, that Jersey is important in the whole world considering efficiency, contents of fat and the high concentration of the milk. Today there is an accentuated tendency and it will be even more emphasized with the new implantation of the Normative Act 51, from the Agricultural Ministry of Brazil, which in the first of July 2005, for the first time in our country, demands that the minimal protein, fat and total concentration of milk characteristics, in which Jersey has no comparison.
Some of Butia cows won big prizes; Rita was "Balde de ouro" "Gold Bucket", Goldie, National Championship of Milk Production, Harmony, National Championship of Fat Production among all breeders, Star, unbeatable in the displays, Two times champion of Expointer, Two times Champion and national record price in that time, US$70,000.00.
There were also important victories with prizes in Esteio with Jersey - in 28 expositions, 21 times Champions, 24 Best Breeder and many times the Year Cabanha of Milk Cattle. "It has been always a great emotion to win in Esteio, because Expointer is the Shop Window of all work developed on the farm", said Ronald Bertagnolli after Cabanha Butia having won 27 Jersey Prizes, in Expointer 2004, among them, the Milk Champion, when Butia 56-00 Sambo Meta beat the jersey record of Rio Grande do Sul in that moment: she produced 85.0 kilograms of milk in two days. In the National Jersey Exposition, Butia has also a leading presence, with 7 participants, 6 times Best Breeders.
